Abstract

More and more young women are engaged in physical exercise. They perceived sports activity as a determinant of health and an enhanced physical appearance. By exercise, young women achieve their need to develop a positive self-image and self-satisfaction. Towards this goal, they are driven by the motive for achievement and the need for self-actualization. Participants in our study are students and high school students, who are recreational runners, fitness, sports dance, exercise at the gym, yoga and martial arts. They exercise because afterwards they feel better mentally, because they believe that physical activity is good for health in general, to achieve a more beautiful physical appearance and to be in better physical condition. Physical activity acts as a catharsis, increases self-confidence, strong will, discipline and responsibility and developing a positive self-image.
